What are my reimbursement rights in case of an APP fraud?
You may be eligible for reimbursement if you are an individual who was deceived into making a payment via Faster Payments within the UK. The maximum amount of reimbursement is £85 000. Please note that you may be charged up to £100 of claim processing fees.
Please also keep in mind that certain payments are excluded from reimbursement:
- First-party fraud: occurs when an individual intentionally misrepresents themselves to gain financial benefits;
- Gross negligence: a lack of standard of caution and failure to follow our recommended basic security measures from your side, please see details below;
- International payments and unauthorized payments;
- Payments made before October 7, 2024;
- Payments made with other payment systems, cheques, and cash;
- Payments sent or received by credit unions, municipal banks, or national savings banks;
- Payments made between accounts within the same financial institution.
